Invest in Divestment

While boasting of their sustainability records, the big four Aussie banks (that control the major NZ banks), are investing billions of dollars in the fossil fuel industry. We need to show them that they have no public mandate to profit from climate change. We expect better from the people we trust with our money, mortgages, and livelihoods.

Throughout the year we will be working to make sure that Kiwis have banking choices that are committed to being fossil-free in their investments, putting their money where their mouth is.

While the banks are investing billions in fossil fuels, we need people like you to invest a little in us, to support us in our divestment campaign. We want committed fossil-free banking options for Kiwis - invest in divestment.

The divestment movement is the fastest growing movement in history, with success stories continuously building, including the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation, the World Council of Churches, and the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund (the largest in the world), all committing to divest their interests from fossil fuels. Here in New Zealand, Victoria University, Christchurch City Holdings, and the Anglican Church have already pledged to divest.

As 350.org founder, Bill McKibben said, "If it's wrong to wreck the planet the it's wrong to profit from that wreckage."
