On Sunday, September 21st, just days before a landmark climate summit at the UN, Avaaz members around the world are taking part in a People's Climate March. World leaders don’t believe enough of us care about climate change, that’s why they’re still not yet rising to the challenge of saving our planet. But on September 21, we have an unprecedented chance to prove them wrong with the largest climate mobilization in history.
If you live in Toronto (or anywhere near it), come out and join the People's Climate March Toronto, which is sponsored by Toronto350.org, Avaaz.org, Greenpeace Canada, Stop Line 9 Toronto, and the Toronto Raging Grannies. We are a group of volunteers who have been mobilized by Avaaz.org to create a march in Toronto, ON, Canada that's in solidarity with the People's Climate March in New York.
OUR STARTING POINT: We'll be meeting at Nathan Phillips Square at 1p.m. before we begin marching. Our route will begin and end at City Hall while passing by at least one climate offender's premises. Although we want to hold private companies and decision makers accountable, our event's goal is to show everyone everywhere how much we love and care about our planet, and our march will be a very peaceful one. To emphasize this, a green heart will be our unifying symbol.
OUR ROUTE: Start in Nathan Phillips Square at the stage area. From there, we will go south to Queen St. W, west to University Ave, north to Dundas St. W, east to Yonge St, south to Queen St. W, and then westward to return to Nathan Phillips Square.
