Draw the Line against tar sands pipelines, fracking, and dirty air and water pollution! Meet 9 am at the Crabtree Creek section of Umstead State Park off US 70, in the parking area at the end of the main road near the lake. Bring lunch for yourself (try to feature local food!). After a walk in the woods we will enjoy a picnic lunch together, while discussing the possibility of forming a locally-owned municipal utility like people in Boulder. The Piedmont of North Carolina is home to boreal bird species such as Common Loon, Bufflehead, Hermit Thrush, and Dark-eyed Junco in the winter, Red-eyed Vireo in the summer, and beautiful warblers and shorebirds during spring and fall migration that will be effected by the Keystone XL Pipeline and fracking.
