On the 10th of May we are gathering in Warsaw in front of the biggest pension fund in Poland - Nationale-Nederlanden - to demand that it stops using our retirement money to destroy the climate, nature and peoples' lives. Nationale-Nederlanden has shares in the two companies that control lignite mining and combustion in Poland - ZE PAK and PGE S.A. These companies operate 8 open-pit mines and are trying to build 6 more. They mine and burn 64 million tons of lignite a year and the reserves they are aiming to open go into billions of tones of this dirty fuel.
We agree with what Nationale-Nederlanden keeps saying in their ads: our future IS important. But we are also aware that there is no safe future in the world of dangerous climate change. We stand in solidarity with the local communities whose livelihoods are being directly threatened, and with all the people all over the world who fight for a better world free of catastrophic global warming. We call on the NN Fund - Nie Niszczcie! (Do not destroy!) We are gathering to demand that Nationale-Nederlanden puts their assets in companies which don't destroy our common future and that they stop using our retirement money to fuel climate change.
We can show Nationale-Nederlanden that we care for our future and will not support anyone who finances dirty business. But we must do it together!
If you are in Warsaw and can't make it to the Lausitz's Ende Gelaende don't stay at home but join us!
