Join #BreakFree Grahamstown and stand in solidarity with continent-wide demonstrations against the fossil fuel and coal industry. Climate Change is a global crisis that can have powerful local solutions. #BreakFree Grahamstown will be a workshop with the intention of sharing information and solutions to fossil fuel emissions. Prof. Rui Krause will speak about the chemistry of fossil fuels - what are they, why are they useful and why are they used. Prof. Philip Machanick will be sharing his vast experiences in Green activism and will discuss ways to promote action in Grahamstown. Additionally, he will discuss solar energy and its benefits. The Wastepickers in Grahamstown organization will share their experiences living and working on the Makana landfill recycling non-biodegradable waste, consequently reducing fossil fuel emissions. Join us for an open discussion where your ideas, opinions and experiences are welcomed. This is an ideal platform to join forces of various interests to come up with ways of implementing environmental justice in our town. Don't miss this opportunity to sign the petition and #BreakFree from fossil fuels! #ThumaMina
